" RUTH RENDELL MYSTERIES " 1991

On 17th February 1991, I had arrived in Southampton to be in episode 2 of series 5 of the popular detective series " Ruth Rendell Mysteries " starring George Baker as Detective Chief Inspector Wexford.
Christopher Ravenscroft played Detective Inspector Burden and Dianne Keen his wife Jenny Burden.
Also in that episode, which was filmed in  a street in Southampton, was Dorothy Tutin, who had played the part of one of the wives of Henry the Eighth in the earlier television series of " The Wives of Henry the Eighth " starring Keith Michel.
Sharon Maughan, wife of Trevor Eve and famous for being in the long running adverts for " Nescafe " coffee and Denis Lill, from  " Outside Edge " and "The Royal " were also principle actors in this episode.
I played the part of a passer-by, crossing the road to avoid Dorothy Tutin's character who was shouting and causing a disturbance.
It has been 23 years since this involvement, but that day in a Southampton street is still a strong image in my memory. It was a great experience to be in the company of some excellent actors at that time, which was only 6 years after I had entered the world of Television as a Supporting Artiste on 13th February 1985 when I was part of an advert for Kodak, filmed at the Eastbrook studios in Nottingham.
